This year, two of our clients from the Personal Best programme gave up their time to volunteer at this year’s Virgin London Marathon on the 25th April 2010.

Yemane Kassa and Azhar Mohamed have recently completed the Personal Best Programme: ‘Level 1 in Volunteer Events Management’ with the Volunteer Centre and decided to put their events training to good use.

Both clients volunteered as Stewards at the event, keeping the routes clear for the runners and directing spectators to locations around the site.

 

Azhar greatly enjoyed his time as a volunteer at the Marathon. Here’s what he has to say:

‘It was a tiring and busy day but we both really enjoyed the excitement of the event. I really enjoyed being a part of the Marathon and the atmosphere was great. I am looking forward to getting involved in more London events in the future.’

The Personal Best Programme is a course that combines a Level 1 qualification with a volunteer placement and all of our participants get a chance to volunteer at exciting London wide charity events.
