The HFVC are thrilled to be given funding from The Big Lottery Fund to deliver ten Human Libraries across Hammersmith and Fulham.
The Human Library™ is designed to build a positive framework for conversations that can challenge stereotypes, discrimination, stigma and prejudices through dialogue.
The Human Library is a place where real people are on loan to readers. A place where difficult questions are expected, appreciated and answered.
Just like a real Library, a visitor to the ‘Human Library’ can choose a Book/Person from a range of titles, however, the difference is the Books are people and reading is a conversation.
Book titles aim to challenge people’s perceptions/stereotypes and examples of available titles might include…
- Young offender
- Mental Health issues
- Learning Disability
- And many more…..
We are looking to recruit individuals to be Books. This can be for just one 2-3 hour library session or several. Training will provided and travel expenses paid.
